Citrus Cranberry Glazed Ham recipe
The citrus from the oranges and the tartness from the cranberries work together to make a delicious ham glaze in this simple recipe.
Ingredients:
- ½ fully cooked ham (5 to 7 lbs.)
- Whole cloves
- 1¼ cups brown sugar, packed
- ¾ cups cranberry juice cocktail
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons all purpose flour
- 1½ tablespoons prepared mustard
- 1½ tablespoons butter
Directions:
Cut skin off of the ham.
Cut shallow diamond shapes into fat, then dot whole cloves between diamonds.
Put the ham on a rack fat side up, then put the rack in a shallow roasting pan.
Insert a meat thermometer and make sure it does not touch fat or bone.
Bake uncovered at 325°F (160°C) for 1 hour.
Combine ¼ cup brown sugar, cranberry juice, honey, vinegar, flour, and butter in a saucepan. Mix well. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute.
Cover the exposed portion of the ham with the remaining brown sugar, then pour the hot mixture over the ham.
Bake for 30 more minutes or until the thermometer reads 140°F (60°C), basting ham with pan juices twice during the cooking time.
