Cranberry Sausage Stuffing recipe
Your Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without a holiday stuffing - this year, try out a cranberry sausage recipe. It's savory and just a bit tangy - delish!
Ingredients:
1 pound cranberries
1 cup water
1 ½ cups sugar
1 pound sausage, cooked until browned, drippings reserved
8 cups coarsely crumbled cornbread
1 red apple, unpeeled, cored, chopped
1 onion, diced
1 cup diced celery
½ cup diced green pepper
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon dried marjoram
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly grease a large casserole dish.
2) Combine cranberries, water, and sugar in a medium pot; cook 10 minutes over high heat, until cranberries pop. Drain off excess juice.
3) Combine cranberries with remaining ingredients in a large bowl; mix well. Transfer to prepared casserole dish; bake 60 to 65 minutes, covered, until golden brown and bubbly. Cool slightly and serve warm.
